Create tasks, configure breaks and track your progress throughout the day, week or custom period. It’s a surprisingly effective way to retain motivation and focus. The Be Focused lets you get things done by breaking up individual tasks among discrete intervals, separated by short breaks. The study was conducted with PRIME Research, media insight specialists.Staying on task seems is a real challenge for our screen-bound generation. The full report bringing in research for the entire period from February to June will be published in September 2016. Arguments focused on terrorism and security issues, although relatively rare, increased their frequency after the Brussels attacks of March 22. The share of messages focusing on economy was high throughout this period, but increased sharply to 60% immediately after March 21, when the CBI warned about the economic consequences of Brexit. The study also examines how the arguments used by newspapers changed and developed over the first two months of the campaign. In terms of the arguments used by different publications, even though The Sun and the Daily Mirror had divergent positions, they both relied heavily on arguments around sovereignty while the four broadsheet publications, the Financial Times, The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and The Times, all focused more on arguments around the economy and less on sovereignty.Īs they made the case to leave, Daily Express, Daily Star and Daily Mail were all more focused on the issue of migration. After removing articles purely focused on personalities, the campaigns or Brexit in general, the most cited arguments in the remaining 765 articles were, in descending order, the economy/business (33%), sovereignty (29%), migration (18%), regulations (14%) and terrorism/security (6%). Researchers also tracked what arguments were made for either pro-Leave or pro-Remain news stories. Daily Mirror and Daily Star had the fewest number of articles looking at this issue. The preliminary findings show that on an average day in this period, there were 42 articles focused on the referendum across the nine newspapers with Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and The Times having the highest number of such articles, followed by Financial Times, Daily Express, The Guardian and The Sun. All newspapers, whatever their main position, included some articles presenting the other point of view however, the proportion of these was smallest in Daily Express and Daily Mirror, says the study. The study says the articles examined in The Times were relatively evenly balanced between the two positions, with a slight preponderance of pro-Leave articles. The newspapers including the most pro-Remain articles were, in order, Daily Mirror, The Guardian and Financial Times. Positions vary greatly between newspapers: Daily Mail included the most pro-Leave articles followed by Daily Express, Daily Star, The Sun and Daily Telegraph. Of the total number of spokespeople quoted in the articles, 36% were UK politicians, of whom 69% were Conservatives and just 14% Labour. The findings also reveal that newspapers have been more likely to quote Conservatives in the first two months of the campaign. Of the remainder, 19% of articles focused on the referendum were categorised as ‘mixed or undecided’ and 9% as adopting no position. The findings, which cover two sample days of coverage a week during the first two months of the referendum campaign immediately after David Cameron's post-summit Cabinet meeting on 20 February, find that of the 928 articles focused on the referendum, 45% were in favour of leaving compared with only 27% in favour of staying in the EU.

This phenomenon is called learned helplessness because it is not an innate trait. When humans or other animals start to understand (or believe) that they have no control over what happens to them, they begin to think, feel, and act as if they are helpless. Eventually, after enough conditioning, the animal will stop trying to avoid the pain at all-even if there is an opportunity to truly escape it. Learned helplessness is a phenomenon observed in both humans and other animals when they have been conditioned to expect pain, suffering, or discomfort without a way to escape it (Cherry, 2017). 8/23/2023 0 Comments Florida outlineAs we look ahead, here is some of what we expect: We expect that Senate Bill 360 will affect construction defect litigation throughout Florida. A “material violation” is now defined as a FBC violation that exists within a “completed building, structure, or facility with may reasonably result, or has resulted, in physical harm to a person or significant damage to the performance of a building or its systems.” The essential elements to a “material violation” are: completion, physical harm, and significant damage. 553, which provides a statutory civil action for building code violations, is amended to require that such an action be based on a “material violation” of the Florida Building Code (“FBC”). Thus, the statute may have run for earlier built and move in ready homes, but the owners of subsequent completed buildings within the community may still have a cause of action. § 95.11 (3)(c)Ĭommunity Developments/HOA’s in Florida are no longer considered a whole each building must be considered its own for purposes of determining the limitations period. If a newly constructed single-dwelling residential building is used as a model home in an anticipated community, time begins to run from the date on which a deed is recorded first transferring title to another party. Note that the one-year extension for bringing counterclaims, cross-claims, and third-party claims remains. Like the statute of limitations, the date from which the statute of repose begins to run is revised so that it begins to run on the earliest of the following: The statute of repose, which limits time in which “an action founded on design, planning, or construction of an improvement to real property” must be commenced is reduced from 10 years to 7 years. Note that actions which would have “not been barred” under the statute of limitations prior to the effective date of the change of statute of limitations may be filed until July 1, 2024, with the old statute of limitations applied.Īlso, in the case of a latent defect, the statute of limitations is unchanged and begins to run from the time the defect is discovered or should have been discovered.ĬONSTRUCTION STATUTE OF REPOSE.

"Anything around it – any bright guitar or snare-drum hit or tambourine – is totally untouched, I’m just working on the vocal that’s going to cause a problem.” But in a way it’s good, because I can use a specific digital tool which will allow me to just find the ‘S’. So any vocal you think might cause distortion with your sharp, bright ‘S’ sound, I’ll have to pre-treat that. "Because you’re going so slow it shouldn’t have any sharp edges. They’re looking for two things: listening for a specific frequency band, which obviously is not there any more and also any acceleration, sudden fast transients it thinks are a bit sharp. I’ll go through and spend hours just checking things I have to de-ess before I cut at half speed because the limiters don’t work. 10 of the best vinyl subscription services.Six-to-eight weeks later I get test pressings back.” In this case, they got shipped off to the Optimal plant in Germany, probably one of the two very best plants in the world, so I was delighted when it went there. "From there it goes off to the client, and if they’re happy I’ll cut the masters. I’ll sit down and listen to it end-to-end on a domestic deck to make sure it sounds okay – there’s no point playing it on high-end turntable, or even on the lathe pickup, because it doesn’t represent the real world. So we insist that every client has an acetate. "When you’re doing a half-speed cut, you can’t hear what’s going down because it’s all slow and just sounds awful. "If you’re cutting everything at half speed, you’re playing the source at half speed and running the lathe at half speed, then the frequencies and the filter are in the wrong place: you need a special one to do half-speed cutting. I have a recently restored and customised Neumann lathe in the room, which is absolutely beautiful – the best I’ve used – and I have a customised RIAA amplifier and filter. “Once I was happy with the files, I started with the cuts. The only way you can fix that is digitally, and it’s next to invisible mending." One of these tapes had been played on a faulty machine that actually damaged it and left clicks all over it, so I went in and took out all the problems that had been created, which you couldn’t do cutting live from the tape. "The beauty of doing a high-resolution digital transfer is you can go in and micromanage the audio. No need for that on records – full level digital is too loud to cut as is, anyway, so it’s completely pointless to add further compression and further limiting to only bring it down even more. "When I did the transfer, I was only thinking of records: there’s no excessive limiting or extreme compression, which you might do for a CD release to make it sound loud. With clicks and extraneous noises, I had to do some de-essing to soften the ‘S’ sounds of the vocals to avoid sibilance on the pressings. I captured it at hi-res digital, 192-kHz/24-bit and, from there, did any repairs that needed doing. "I have a fantastic Ampex tape machine, which just sounds gorgeous – I’ve got custom heads for it, which make it sound even better – so I was able to do a really nice transfer. It’s getting increasingly difficult to get hold of original tapes now, because people are aware that continually playing old analogue tape is a bad idea because it starts to wear away. “The Eno job is a good example, because I was given access to the original tapes – a couple of originals are missing, but mostly I had the masters. 8/23/2023 0 Comments Instagram photo gridThe trick for this one, of course, is that you have to post three images at a time, or the alignment will be off.
